San Francisco

San Francisco

Weather this weekend in Oregon is not very photography friendly so instead I went back to my library and decided to share some of the pictures I took in San Francisco earlier this year.
In February I extended one of the weekends and flew to the Bay Area for a short vacation with my wife. Fortunately weather there was very nice and warm, we'd stayed in downtown (btw. I loved the dive bars that can be found around each corner) and explored the city by foot sometimes using public transport. You immediately feel the scale of the city it feels significantly larger compared to Portland. It's a place I'll definitely have to go back to be able to explore it more deeply.

Below are the few pictures that I especially like from the trip:

We've started off with a visit to Alcatraz, I was a litte surprised that the cell block building was quite small (not to mention the cells - but that I knew already).

We had some sun only in the morning, later it was overcast and stayed that way for the following day as well. Next on our way was Palace of Fine Arts.

And of course the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

Last day was much nicer weather wise with lots of sun, I've started off with a sunrise trip to Battery Spencer on the north side of the bay for a view of sun rising over the city.

On my way back to the city I've stopped at Baker Beach for another view of the bridge.

Since I was on the other side of the city I've decided to visit the Legion of Honor building.

Later that day we were just strolling around the city visiting different places, I like how the Bay Bridge is visible from some hills between buildings.

In the evening I took a walk around the piers and captured the last two pictures with Ferry Building and Bay Bridge, those two are my favourites from the trip I think.
