Bandon and the Milky Way

Bandon and the Milky Way

The road trip to San Francisco with my parents took us down the Route 101 and on the first night we drove from Portland to Bandon, OR where we've stayed at a beautifully located motel (Windermere on the Beach - I can highly recommend it). The view from the room was spectacular and a quick check on the Star Walk app told me that the Milky Way was rising on the horizon, so I quickly took my camera out and decided to do my first ever attempt at capturing the night sky. Getting a nice shot of the Milky Way was one of my goals for a long time, however I've never actually tried it before (although I've read a few articles on the topic), but I'm quite happy with the result I got.

Next morning I took a short walk to the beach where I've noticed a much better spot for previous night Milky Way attempts - but that's just part of life - if we had arrived at the motel earlier I would have a chance to scout the surroundings and maybe get a better shot, but there's always next time.
